Machining of Boring Tube
A boring cutter has three basic elements: an indexable blade, a cutter bar, and a boring seat. The boring seat is used to clamp the tool bar, and the clamping length is usually about 4 times the diameter of the tool bar. The length of the tool bar equipped with a blade extending from the boring base is called the overhang (unsupported portion of the boring tool). The overhang determines the maximum depth of the boring hole and is the most important dimension of the boring tool. Excessive overhang can cause severe deflection of the cutter bar, causing vibration, thereby damaging the surface quality of the workpiece, and possibly premature failure of the blade. These will reduce processing efficiency.
Material of boring tool used for machining boring pipe
The boring bar is made of steel, tungsten based high density alloy, or hard alloy. Alloy steel is the most commonly used tool bar material, and some boring tool bar manufacturers use AISI 1144 carbon high-speed steel. Regardless of the grade of carbon steel and alloy steel, they all have the same elastic modulus: E=30 × 106psi。 A common misconception is that using high hardness or high-quality steel to make boring tool bars can reduce deflection. From the deflection calculation formula, it can be seen that one of the variables determining deflection is the modulus of elasticity rather than the hardness.

Material geometric parameters of the boring blade used for machining the boring tube
The boring blade can be made of different tool materials such as cemented carbide, ceramic, cermet, PCD, PCBN, etc. Cemented carbide boring blades are mostly coated with PVD or CVD coatings. For example, PVD TiN coatings are suitable for machining superalloys and austenitic stainless steels; PVD TiAlN coatings are widely used for processing most steel, titanium alloys, cast iron, and nonferrous metal alloys. Both of these coatings are coated on a cemented carbide substrate with good resistance to thermal deformation and intermittent cutting.

Difference between finish rolled pipe and finish drawn pipe: 1. Fine drawing Cold drawing refers to the drawing of metal pipes without heating using a cold drawing machine. The advantage is that it does not need to be carried out at high temperatures. The disadvantage is that the residual stress is large, and it cannot be drawn too long. Cold drawing can improve toughness and tensile strength to obtain better mechanical properties. Cold drawn seamless steel pipe process: round tube blank → heating → piercing → heading → annealing → pickling → multi-pass cold drawing → semi-finished pipe → heat treatment → straightening → hydraulic test (flaw detection) → marking → warehousing.

Processing Technology of Piston Rod
The piston rod is processed by rolling to improve its surface corrosion resistance and delay the generation or expansion of fatigue cracks, thereby improving the fatigue strength of the cylinder rod. Through rolling forming, a cold work hardening layer is formed on the rolling surface, reducing the elastic and plastic deformation of the contact surface of the grinding pair, thereby improving the wear resistance of the surface of the cylinder rod, while avoiding burns caused by grinding. After rolling, the reduction of surface roughness can improve the fitting properties. At the same time, it reduces friction damage to the sealing ring or seal when the cylinder rod and piston move, and improves the overall service life of the cylinder. Rolling process is a highly efficient and high-quality process measure.
